Three Essential Truths Which Are Denied by Many Pastor Les Walthers "For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen." Romans 11:36 The first essential truth which is denied by many in our day is expressed by the preposition "from." The fact that "all things are from God" means that God is the Creator of all things. There is a phrase which is frequently used in our day to describe those who refuse to deal with reality. They are described as being in a "state of denial." That phrase correctly describes those who deny the Biblical account of creation. They refuse to deal with the reality that God is their Creator. They are well aware that the implication of acknowledging God as Creator is that they are ultimately accountable to God. They cleverly avoid accountability to God by denying God. We are all aware that mere denial of reality does not change reality, it only temporarily postpones the inevitable. The second essential truth which is denied by many in our day is expressed by the preposition "through." This means that God upholds and sustains all things. The basic truth that is denied is the providence of God. Those who deny the providence of God believe that the world and our lives are governed by chance, fate or "luck" or one's self , rather than by God. It follows that if there is no God, then something besides God must be in control. Man likes to think that He is in control of his own destiny and that he is the captain of his own ship. If things go wrong, then he can conveniently blame it on chance, fate or "bad luck." The third truth which many refuse to acknowledge is expressed by the little word "to." This word expresses the truth that ultimately all that God has created is for His own purpose. God is a God of purpose and according to the Scriptures, He is "working all things after the counsel of His own will." In the end, it will be revealed that all which God has created is for His own purposes and His own glory, as is stated in the last phrase of our text. To Him be the glory forever. Amen." Those who prefer to remain in the rather comfortable "state of denial" will one day be forced to deal with certain realities. The reality that God is Creator, that God is in control and the reality that man is ultimately accountable to God. There is one other "denial" that they will be forced to deal with. Christ said, "But whoever shall deny Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven." Reformed
